Structure

The York Workplace Chaplaincy is managed by

  • A Board of Trustees and
  • A Management Committee

each comprises representatives of various business interests and churches

The Business Manager is Chair of the Management Committee. The current holder of this position is also a Trustee.

Responsible for

  • implementing the decisions of the Management Committee
  • supporting the Chaplains
  • serving as a further point of contact for client companies

Our Chaplains and Honorary Treasurer are also members of the Management Committee and contribute significantly to the decision making process.

Reverend Chris Cullwick BA MA

Chris has worked for the York Workplace Chaplaincy since 2002, having vast experience of providing confidential support in a wide variety of situations since ordination in 1981. He holds a post graduate Diploma in Careers Counselling as well as a MA in Theology. Chris has a particular interest in equality issues. He is involved in a number of local voluntary organisations including Family Matters and the Fairtrade Forum.

Reverend Jim Harding

Jim Harding is Vice President and former Director and Chief Executive of the NSPCC, and has worked with children, young people and families, in one capacity or another, for over 35 years.  He started work in the statutory sector before moving to the NSPCC where he worked from 1985 to 2000.  For the last five of these years he was the NSPCC’s Director and Chief Executive. Since leaving the NSPCC Jim has remained involved with a number of charities.  He also works as a consultant to organisations and as a mentor, including mentoring people in senior management positions.  He has written a couple of books and numerous articles, lectures and features for papers. Jim was ordained in York Minster in July 2006.  He now also works as a part-time NSM sharing out his time between being a curate in a parish in Acomb, and working for York Workplace Chaplaincy and being Chaplain at Fulford Road Police Station.

Jim is married with three children and four grandchildren.

Reverend David Simpson

David has worked in the retail trade for many years, first started as a Sales Assistant in Coney Street in 1968 and gained a wide experience over many years with various firms in York and Harrogate on the shop floor and in management. Trained at Durham University gaining a diploma in theology and ministry and was ordained in 2005. As well as running a business David is a member of the York City Centre Churches Care and Development team.
